There should be plenty of wildlife to see – maybe even a kingfisher

This rich river corridor is a wildlife haven where you may see grey herons, sand martins, dippers and various species of ducks. This walk is mainly on the flat so you you'll be able to talk while you walk. It might be a little muddy in places so you are advised to wear walking boots and take care with the few tree roots along the riverside.

We will walk upstream along the River Annan with views of the town across the playing fields continuing under the bridge on the Edinburgh Road still alongside the river until we came to a place known locally as the Rockies, where there is a small beach and large rocks in the water. At Adamsholm, just past the Rockies, we walk across a field to reach the Old Edinburgh Road where we head along Beechgrove with its stylish old houses and then back into town passing the Moffat Ram and the High Street.
