This walk starts with a pretty steep ascent and leads past Moffat’s golf club - 'the jewel in the south'. It involves a few moderate uphill stretches and offers great views looking over the town and towards the hills and gorge which make up the Devil’s Beef Tub, another area of superb natural beauty.

This walk starts with a pretty steep ascent and leads past Moffat’s golf club - 'the jewel in the south'. It involves a few moderate uphill stretches and offers great views looking over the town and towards the hills and gorge which make up the Devil’s Beef Tub, another area of superb natural beauty. Some fascinating historical points of interest will be covered along the way. We join the Annandale Way - a superb long-distance walking route (56 miles in total), towards the end of this walk and then finish up on a pleasant stretch beside the River Annan then back into town.


Rest assured: there are no scary sheer drops on this walk.

Ria grew up in Moffat and loves the great outdoors, so knows the area inside out. Having recently returned after some time away, she is enjoying rediscovering the Moffat countryside and the many walking opportunities Moffat has to offer. As a firm believer in the benefits being out in nature confers, Ria is keen to share her enjoyment of walking in the area with others, and she looks forward to welcoming new walkers to Moffat and its wild landscape.
